Matt Griffin | Professional Guide & Instructor

Matt Griffin has been immersed in outdoor adventure for his entire life. Some of his earliest memories include whitewater paddling, backpacking, and snow skiing with his dad, who he credits with instilling in him a love for the mountains. For 35 years, his family operated a whitewater rafting company on the Nantahala River and Matt grew up washing life jackets, digging ditches, and guiding rafts and everything in between. In middle school, Matt saved up all the money he’d made doing grunt work for the family business and bought his first real mountain bike. He fell in love with the thrill of mountain biking and the lifestyle surrounding it and began racing. 25 years later, Matt is still passionate about the sport and is actively involved in racing and riding mountain bikes at every possible opportunity. Matt currently teaches 8th grade social studies at Langston Charter Middle School in Greenville and for several years, he ran his own successful outdoor adventure summer program before signing on as part of the Blue Wall Adventures. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management and a Master of Arts in Teaching, both from Clemson University. He is also certified by the Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association.

BWA is committed to teaching mountain biking skills, in a fun and safe manner. Always starting with the fundamentals,  we use a skills based instructional approach which allows all riders to progress at his or her level. Although we love hitting the trail hard, we are not about "conquering" any trail, but giving riders the confidence and skills to safely progress, ride more efficiently and for longer periods of time. Take your ride to the next level and book your instruction today! Send us an email or give us a call at (864) 214-7222 to get things started!
