We are Blue Wall Adventures
Blue Wall Adventures Founder and COF, Beau Bethel, has been an avid mountain biker for over 30 years. Still racing mountain bikes a few times a year, he is a former teacher with a current teaching certificate and a Masters of Education. The last twelve years he was an Investment Counselor at BB&T Securities and left as a Vice President. He worked as a raft guide, kayak instructor and backpack guide in his early twenties for Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center, High Country on the Ocoee and as a guide at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Combining his love for the outdoors and teaching, BWA is committed to teaching progressive mountain bike skills, fostering conservation and trail advocacy while helping to get others in the outdoors safely. He is a Wilderness First Responder and certified as an IMBA Level One Mountain Bike Instructor and Level One Instructor with the Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association (PMBI).
Matt Griffin has been immersed in outdoor adventure for his entire life. Some of his earliest memories include whitewater paddling, backpacking, and snow skiing with his dad, who he credits with instilling in him a love for the mountains. For 35 years, his family operated a whitewater rafting company on the Nantahala River and Matt grew up washing life jackets, digging ditches, and guiding rafts and everything in between. In middle school, Matt saved up all the money he’d made doing grunt work for the family business and bought his first real mountain bike. He fell in love with the thrill of mountain biking and the lifestyle surrounding it and began racing. 25 years later, Matt is still passionate about the sport and is actively involved in racing and riding mountain bikes at every possible opportunity. Matt currently teaches 8th grade social studies at Langston Charter Middle School in Greenville and for several years, he ran his own successful outdoor adventure summer program before signing on as part of the Blue Wall Adventures. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management and a Master of Arts in Teaching, both from Clemson University. He is also certified by the Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association.
BWA is committed to teaching mountain biking skills, in a fun and safe manner. Always starting with the fundamentals, we use an instructional approach which allows all riders to progress at his or her level. Although we love hitting the trail hard, we are not about "conquering" any trail, but giving riders the confidence and skills to safely progress, ride more efficiently and for longer periods of time. Take your ride to the next level and book your instruction today! Send us a line to get it started.
